In a remarkable medical achievement, doctors at MKCG Medical College and Hospital successfully removed a 25‑cm-long arrow that had penetrated the chest of 37-year-old Tripati Muduli. The arrow was lodged approximately 15 cm into his body, perilously close to his heart, causing internal bleeding and the formation of about 1.5 litres of blood clots .
A multidisciplinary team led by Dr. Sarada Prasad Sahoo carried out the delicate three‑hour surgery. The patient, who remained conscious but suffered significant chest pain and difficulty breathing due to lung injury, received two units of blood transfusions during the procedure
The cause of the injury was a land dispute in Malkangiri, where Muduli was reportedly shot by his brother while sitting on his verandah. Following the successful procedure, the team, praised by Principal Dr. Suchitra Dash for their quick coordination, confirmed that Muduli is now stable and under observation.
