In a tragic incident on last Friday, two doctors from Haryana lost their lives, and three others sustained injuries when their vehicle collided with a nilgai in Assandh. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Vijay Pal, superintendent of Kalpana Chawla Medical Hospital, and Dr. Mohit, a resident doctor at the same institution.
The group of five doctors was en route to a friend's wedding in Hansi when the accident occurred. According to sources, a nilgai suddenly appeared on the road, leading to a fatal collision. Dr. Vijay Pal died instantly, while Dr. Mohit succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The remaining three doctors are currently receiving medical treatment.
This incident highlights the ongoing issue of road accidents caused by stray animals in Haryana. Over the past five years, the state has reported 3,383 such accidents, resulting in 919 fatalities and 3,017 injuries. The government has been working to address this problem by rehabilitating over one lakh stray animals and providing financial assistance to cow shelters.
