The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has scheduled the NEET PG 2025 exam for June 15, to be conducted in two shifts: 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM. This decision has sparked concerns among medical aspirants and professionals, who argue that the two-shift format may lead to inconsistencies in exam difficulty and fairness.
A significant 96% of NEET PG aspirants support the demand for a single-shift examination, according to a survey cited by the Unified Doctors Front (UDF). The primary concern revolves around the normalization process used to adjust scores between different shifts. Critics argue that this method may not accurately reflect the varying difficulty levels of each shift, potentially disadvantaging some candidates.
Medical associations, including the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), have formally requested the Health Minister to reconsider the two-shift format. They emphasize that conducting the exam in a single shift would ensure uniformity and fairness for all candidates. The debate continues as stakeholders await a response from the authorities.
