The Punjab government has initiated the process to recruit 1,000 doctors in the state’s health department, according to Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh. Speaking in Mohali, the minister said that the step is aimed at improving the availability of medical staff in government health institutions across Punjab. He emphasized that the government is committed to strengthening the public health system and ensuring better medical services for citizens.
Dr Singh noted that the recruitment process is already underway, and eligible candidates will soon be appointed to various government hospitals and health centres. The move comes in response to the shortage of medical professionals in the public sector, which has impacted healthcare delivery, particularly in rural and remote areas. He also mentioned that the government is focusing on transparency and merit-based appointments.
The minister added that necessary approvals have been obtained and that the selection process will be completed in a timely manner. By filling these long-pending vacancies, the state aims to enhance the efficiency of health services and reduce the burden on existing medical staff. The recruitment is part of a broader effort by the Punjab government to upgrade healthcare infrastructure and improve overall patient care.
