The government has stated that a thorough investigation was conducted into the murder of Dr. Vandana Das, and the Chief Minister declared in the assembly that no further inquiry is necessary. The Chief Minister's reply, stating that he doesn't perceive a necessity for a CBI inquiry, suggests that his acknowledgment, as a respected member, addresses issues deemed beneficial for Kerala's general public. Dr. Vandana Das was murdered in an attack at the Taluk Hospital in Kottarakara while providing medical services. A comprehensive investigation spanning 90 days has been conducted, and charges have been filed in court. It is evident that actions required by the police in connection with the case were carried out promptly, without any delay. Dr. Vandana Das, a distinguished doctor from Kottarakara, was immediately rushed to the private hospital within the precincts of the Taluk Hospital following the severe attack. According to opinions expressed by fellow medical college toppers and colleagues of Dr. Vandana Das, renowned for her expertise in cardiothoracic surgery, it was at the private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram that she was admitted for specialized medical care, inclusive of cardiac thoracic surgery services. The involvement of the police in facilitating prompt medical care is notable. The incident was registered as case number 1202/2023 at the Kottarakara police station. The suspect apprehended at the scene was remanded by the court. Further, the comprehensive investigation into the case was entrusted to the Crime Branch of the Kollam district for ensuring thorough scrutiny. After a meticulous examination of compelling evidence and CCTV footage, the Kollam district sessions court concluded a comprehensive and timely investigation, leading to the submission of charges. Dissatisfied with the investigation, Dr. Vandana Das's parents urged for the case to be transferred to the CBI, prompting them to file a petition in the High Court for its consideration. Despite the completion of the investigation and the submission of charges, the Kerala High Court has dismissed the petition for a CBI inquiry due to the inability to find any specific reasons or grounds for further examination. It is emphasized by the esteemed member that the government should respond to the CBI investigation demand instead of opposing it, considering all aspects thoroughly scrutinized. The submission of charges has been made without any specific allegations. Further investigation by a specialized squad is deemed unnecessary in this matter. To prevent the recurrence of such unfortunate incidents in the future, the government has incorporated comprehensive medical protocols into the Medical League, effective from September 21, 2023.

A new English-language documentary, “Ayurveda – The Double Helix of Life,” is set to premiere on June 11 in New Delhi, with a special screening at the Film Division Theatre. The film is directed by national award–winner Vinod Mankara and produced by Dr. A V Anoop under the A V A Productions banner, in collaboration with the Ayurvedic Medicine Manufacturers Organisation of India.

Clocking in at around 90 minutes, the docu‑film explores how Ayurveda can complement modern medicine, especially in treating conditions like infertility, renal stones, diabetic neuropathy, and even Parkinson’s disease in Germany. It moves from traditional medicine-making practices to recent clinical breakthroughs such as rejuvenating skin treatments and slow-release pharmaceutical pads. Mankara, who also scripted the film, emphasises that the goal is to present Ayurveda as a scientifically valid system, not merely ancient tradition.

Featuring commentary from 52 experts—including doctors, scientists, and officials from the World Health Organization—the documentary aims to counter misinformation and highlight ongoing research in integrative medicine. Officials expected at the premiere include Minister of State for Ayush and Health Prataprao Jadhav and Ayush Secretary Rajesh Kotecha. The film will be shown in multiple countries, aiming to raise global awareness of Ayurveda’s scientific potential.
