New Delhi: Authorities disclosed on Wednesday that a 24-year-old individual aspiring to crack the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) was apprehended for masquerading as a doctor at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in central Delhi. Officials reported that on Tuesday, Ashutosh Tripathi, a resident of Burari, was apprehended in the hospital's emergency department. He was found wearing a stethoscope and carrying a doctor's coat in his bag, according to a statement by an official. A police officer stated that a First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged at the North Avenue police station under section 170 of the Indian Penal Code, pertaining to impersonation of a public servant. The complaint was filed by Rahul Dhamija, a senior resident in the Department of Surgery. According to the officer, when questioned by hospital authorities, Tripathi initially represented himself as a doctor but later asserted he was a medical student. Concerns regarding his credentials led the hospital to alert the police. During questioning, he told the police that he was preparing for the NEET medical entrance examination and had taken the exam last year, but was not success. The officer noted that he seemed to take pleasure in wearing the doctor's apron and stethoscope, but he refused to disclose where he acquired these items. This led the officer to suspect that he may have entered the hospital with intentions of theft. The officer also stated that he alleged being called by a friend to meet at the hospital, although they are still in the process of confirming the accuracy of his statements.
