The Kerala House Surgeons Association is preparing to initiate a strike at the Government Medical College Hospital in Kozhikode due to the prolonged delay in disbursing their stipends for February. Officials from the medical college unit of the association revealed that approximately 220 house surgeons have yet to receive their stipends. Despite sending memorandums to the Directorate of Medical Education, Finance department, and the college Principal, they have received no promising resolution. According to one official, they were informed about delays in fund allocation, leaving them with no choice but to resort to strike action. Similar circumstances are reported at the Government Medical College Hospital in Alappuzha, while an additional group of house surgeons at the Government Medical College Hospital in Thrissur has also been impacted.
