In a significant medical achievement, doctors at Meenakshi Super Speciality Hospital in Madurai have successfully treated two middle-aged women diagnosed with complex brain aneurysms. Each patient had three aneurysms located in different blood vessels within the brain. These balloon-like swellings, if ruptured, can lead to severe bleeding and life-threatening conditions. To address this, the medical team employed advanced neurovascular technology to perform endovascular coiling, a minimally invasive procedure that reduces surgical risks and shortens recovery time.
Dr. Gowtham Kuncha, a consultant and interventional neurosurgeon at the hospital, explained that the aneurysms were situated deep within the brain, making traditional surgical approaches risky and time-consuming. By opting for an endovascular method, the team was able to treat all three aneurysms in a single session. This approach involves navigating through blood vessels to reach the aneurysms and sealing them off, thereby preventing potential ruptures.
Following the procedure, both patients are reported to be recovering well without any complications. This successful treatment highlights the capabilities of Meenakshi Super Speciality Hospital in handling complex neurovascular cases using state-of-the-art techniques. Such advancements not only improve patient outcomes but also position Madurai as a growing center for specialized neurological care.
